whellchair transportation vouchers
The Wheelchair Transportation Program began as a pilot project in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1980, and is the only local social service transportation program that provides "through the door" service
The basis for its development is to provide senior citizens, who are confined to a wheelchair, the opportunity to reach necessary or preferred destinations, thereby contributing to their well-being and continued independence.

The program issues approximately 280 wheelchair transportation vouchers each month. Based upon availability, a person may receive 8 vouchers per month, and each voucher is good for a one-way trip. These vouchers are honored by the company whose name and phone number appear on the face of the voucher. This program is significant because it enables a senior citizen, who is confined to a wheelchair, the opportunity to choose the date, time and destination for their trip.
